![]() I wrote out the word, and put a dot underneath each letter to show where to put each sticker. I put one sticker that matched the word I was going to spell out on the left-hand side of the paper to emphasize that we start on the left when reading, spelling, and writing. I thought that spelling out the names of the animals could be a great way to practice letter recognition, discuss beginning letter sounds, work on left-to-right progression, and to help make that connection that letters work together to make a word.Īll you need to set up this activity, is your black marker, and some little stickers. I found these little zoo animal stickers in our stash and knew I wanted to use them somehow. You could also just choose a few random letters that you want them to focus on (not necessarily the ones from their name), or have them tracing numbers or shapes. If your child (or student) has a longer name, you could either make the block letters smaller and try to fit them on two pages, or you could just do a few letters on each page and just flip through them. For fun, I used a green crayon and added some grass to make it seem like the cheetah was running through some grasslands. To set it up, I used a black marker and drew big block letters. I chose to keep things simple and focus this activity around the letters in Kade’s name since he is still learning to write it. I also thought you could put a cheetah sticker on a piece of paper and cut around it, then tape it to the end of a craft stick and trace that way. We used the one we have from this animal set, but I’m sure there are other little cheetah friends out there somewhere.
